Information, not medical advice

Everything on SoftBump — the due date calculator, ovulation calculator, trimester calculator, week-by-week pages and any accompanying text — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended as, and must not be relied upon as, medical advice, diagnosis, prognosis or treatment.

Estimates only

Pregnancy due dates calculated from your last menstrual period, an ultrasound measurement, an IVF transfer or a conception date are estimates. Only about 1 in 20 babies is born on their calculated due date. Cycle length, implantation timing, ovulation variability and measurement error can all move the true date by several days in either direction. Your midwife or doctor's dating scan is the authoritative source for your pregnancy.

Week-by-week fetal size and development notes describe typical averages. Real babies vary. Do not use size comparisons to judge whether your pregnancy is "on track".

Fertility calculators

Our ovulation calculator estimates likely fertile days from the length of your cycle. It is a planning aid, not a form of contraception, and it cannot detect pregnancy. Do not rely on it to prevent pregnancy.

Always talk to a professional

Always seek the advice of your midwife, doctor, pharmacist or other qualified healthcare provider about any question you have concerning pregnancy, fertility, symptoms, medicines, tests or a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay in seeking it, because of something you have read on this website.

Emergencies

If you think you or your baby may have a medical emergency — for example severe bleeding, severe pain, a sudden change in baby's movements, a severe headache with visual changes, or signs of pre-eclampsia — call your local emergency number immediately. In the UK, call 999 or, for urgent non-emergency advice, 111.
